Hi all,

NO GRITS NO GLORY ran in an advertisement over the weekend and the numbers put it at #1 in the Haunted Houses category, #8 in Ghosts category, and #53 in suspense category!

Many thanks! Hope you’re having a good Monday in prep for Halloween!

I know I should probably be blogging about books (and I do, so often) but let’s switch it up to TV for a moment.

There are many great new series on TV this year. What are some of your faves? I’ve listed mine below…

1. Scorpion: a team of genius geeks helps save the world

2. Scandal: this one isn’t new, but I like it all the same

3. How to Get Away with Murder: I love Viola Davis and she shines in this one about a law professor & her students.

4. NCIS New Orleans: Despite the few mistakes made in the pilot, I’ve come around to liking this show. I’m from New Orleans and the writers have become better at being more accurate on info. Plus I love the scenery of my hometown!

What about you? What are some of your fave new shows this season?

Hi all and welcome to the week before Halloween!

I’m guest blogging over at my writer friend Sharon Clare’s blog today about ghost tours. Read the post here.

Hi all,

I woke up to some happy & surprising news! The first book in the Elemental Clan Series (Water’s Blood) has been featured on Apple’s iBooks feature of the day!

You can see the link here – the book is free until November.

Many people believe that their environment helps spur creativity–or not. So we writer types tend to have an array of candles, statues, glass/pewter objects, anything that makes us *feel* more inspired.

I have no doubt that these things do help, and the subconscious mind does believe in ritual and preparing itself for creative work – – but we can’t always have the perfect desk, at the perfect moment, with the perfect mindset.

Part of writing (or any task, really) is the dreaded 4-letter word part: WORK. That means that come rain or shine, mess or beautiful mini temple of a desk, we have to put in the time and work. Writers, that means write. Accountants, jostle those numbers. And so on and so forth.

Below is a pic of the many pewter fairies I have on my desk in my office. This helps me concentrate and go to magical places. What about you? What types of totems do you keep nearby to help keep the bad energy away?
